Beginning in October on the first Sunday of each month we will institute what we call “Family Choir Sunday”. What that means is that ANYONE who is interested in singing in the choir pews is welcome. Any age range, any singing ability. (There’s safety in numbers, you know.) You may sing for one Sunday and drop out if it’s not your cup of tea, or you can continue to sing on the first Sunday of each month through May of next year. Your entire family may participate.

In the beginning, all the anthems will be familiar hymn tunes so you need not worry about not being able to read music. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. in the choir pews for rehearsal. No one will need a choir robe but for the sake of consistency it would be nice if the men would wear a white or or lightly colored shirt, and the women a lightly colored blouse or dress. At the 9 AM rehearsal we will sing through all the music that we will do at the service. Young people may leave the rehearsal to attend Sunday School at the appropriate time.

When the service begins, we will process in as the choir normally does and take our places. If your child is in Sunday School and wants to join you, they will simply come up to the choir pews to sit with you at their usual entrance time during the Passing of the Peace, and in the end we will all process out during the final hymn.

You need not concern yourself with the “choreography” of this. We will rehearse everything before the service, and I know that the Chancel Choir will be more than delighted if you join us. If you have any questions, contact Jon Kolenchak.
